Service Staff

If you would like a designated server for your buffet, we can make those arrangements for you for an additional cost. Certain events will require service staff.

Floral

We will be happy to order, receive and handle your specific floral and decorative requests for additional fees determined in accordance with your specific needs.

Linens

White linens are provided on the buffets, but there are no linens provided at the seating tables. A variety of additional colors are available for an additional fee.

Custom Product

Contact a Sodexo Catering Sales Associate for details. Our Catering Sales team will be happy to create a customized menu for any event.

China Service

China service can be provided for an additional cost.

Carver Fee

For hours of service, plus set up and break down.

Special Occasion Services

We will be happy to make your arrangements for specialty cakes, balloons and entertainment.

Tax and Gratuity

6.25% state tax and .75% city tax. These charges are not included in the menu price. If you are tax exempt, please provide us with a copy of your tax-exemption certificate to ensure you’re not charged for tax. Your exemption certificate can be faxed to 617.287.5024 or e-mailed to Sodexo.catering@umb.edu.

Two weeks notice prior to the event is required.
Liquor, mixers and setups as well as bartender.

Sodexo must retrieve $400.00 in receipts for the first hour and $150.00 for each additional hour per bar. Client will be charged the difference from sales minimums. Selling prices will be determined by Sodexo. Sodexo will determine how many bartenders will be needed to accommodate your event. Charges for bartenders and for cashiers will apply if requesting a cash bar. Hosted bar will have charges for bartender only.

Important Information:

  • All UMass Boston event planners seeking alcoholic beverages must first comply with all requirements as determined by Sodexo and UMass Boston.
  • The client is responsible for any charges incurred for licensing and any required security as determined by Sodexo, UMass Boston and /or the City of Boston.
  • Sodexo reserves the right to refuse service of alcohol to any person(s) who appear to be under the legal drinking aged and is without proper identification.
  • Sodexo will not serve any person(s) into intoxication as well as any person who appears to be intoxicated.
  • Sodexo will abide by all rules and regulations as dictated by the University, the state and local law. Sodexo reserves the right to discontinue alcoholic beverage service, at its sole discretion and without advance consultation with the client, should it determine that adequate control elements are compromised.
  • Above menu prices do not include 6.25% state tax and .75% city tax. If your group is tax exempt, please provide us with your tax exempt number and documentation. Please contact the Catering Office for details.

    Policies

    Lead Time and Final Counts

    If you are an internal customer, place your orders online at www.umassboston.catertrax.com or you can drop off your order at the Catering Office. Final counts are due 48 hours (25 people or less) and 72 hours (26 people and more) prior to the event date.

    External Customers

    You are invited to make arrangements directly with the Director of Catering. Final counts and payment in full are due 10 days prior to the event. Please call 617-287-5114.

    Special Arrangements and Last Minute Details

    If you need to accommodate a guest with allergies, would like a customized menu or need to make last minute changes, please contact our Director of Catering or our Catering Associate. We will try to accommodate any reasonable last minute changes to your menu, but we cannot guarantee these changes due to ordering and delivery restraints from our vendors. We may need to make substitutions at our discretion.
